Welcome the Banking & Finance Department at Philadelphia University. The Department was established in 1991 to prepare undergraduate students for professional financial analysts. This original purpose has since been changed and augmented with a substantial research endeavor in a unique multidisciplinary program. The Department provides state-of-the-art financial education with a professional emphasis. By forming close links with the accountancy profession and business community in Jordan, the Department has adjusted its mission in finance education and research to the requirements of the marketplace.
The Department of Banking & Finance of Philadelphia University is committed to developing Banking & Finance graduates with superior finance and management skills necessary to be responsive to the needs of a dynamic profession. We are extremely proud of our many graduates who have successfully pursued careers in public finance, industry, government, not-for-profit institutions and general business.
Our curriculum integrates theory with general education. Special emphasis is placed on developing our students' communication, computer, and research skills along with their Banking & Finance expertise. To implement this curriculum, the Department has selected experienced faculty from both academia and the profession.
The Department uses its resources in a manner designed to enhance the quality of the program. For example, each semester offers day and evening sections of all of its courses, which allows students flexibility in structuring their schedules.
Student activities are an integral part of the educational experience offered by our program. Unlike other universities, the Business Incubators (career builder) and other co-curricular programs, i.e., the career exchange scheme, the Drop-In-Center, work together to serve their members. Through their participation in these programs, students are provided many and varied opportunities for peer interaction.
Besides meeting fellow students, these schemes allow students to interact with professionals through lecture programs, on-site firm tours, community service programs and social functions. This interaction often aids students in finding employment before (part-time jobs) as well as after graduation.
