The Faculty of Arts was founded in 1991 and received its first group of students at the beginning of the Academic year 1991-1992. Since then the Faculty has grown rapidly and attracted a large number of students from Jordan and from abroad.

The Faculty consists of five departments: Arabic Language and Literature, English Language and Literature, Graphic Design, Interior Design, and Human and Social Sciences.

At the moment, the Faculty offers BA degrees in Arabic Language and Literature, Graphic Design, English Language and Literature and Interior Design. It also offers a Master's degree in English Language and Literature. As for the Department of Human and Social Sciences, it offers elective courses such as Civic Education and Human thought and Culture to all University' students.

The Faculty thrives through its distinguished programs, distinguished members of staff, and its modern teaching methods. It promotes active communication with its students and encourages them to participate effectively in its activities.

Moreover, the Faculty is an active participant in the cultural life of Jordan as a whole. It organizes a yearly International Conference, one of the best known conferences in the region. This year it will hold its 13th conference entitled "Culture of Love and Hate"; it also arranges a yearly Scientific Week that is intended to stimulate research and intellectual debate. This year's Scientific Week will be the sixth in the series. Some of our faculty members are well known throughout the Arab world.

To turn out highly-qualified specialists who can fulfill the needs of the local labor market and to qualify students to pursue their postgraduate studies.
