Department of Electrical Engineering-Overview

The Electrical Engineering Department at Philadelphia University is one of the leading departments that covers all aspects of modern electric utility and industrial power systems and consists of courses, workshops, special lectures, and visits to electric utility facilities. Courses are taught at an academic level, with extensive practical application in the following Labs.: Electrical Machines, Electrical Circuits, Measurement System, Control , and Power System.

The electrical engineering program aims to graduate students with the following abilities:

  • A strong background in mathematics and physical sciences and a good understanding of their importance to electrical and computer engineering disciplines
  • An ability to formulate problems, design experiments, collect, analyze and interpret data and use this knowledge to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs
  • An ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams
  • An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility
  • Proficiency in oral and written communications
  • The broad education necessary to understand contemporary issues and the global impact of engineering and technological developments in societal context
  • A clear understanding that lifelong learning is essential for sustained professional development
  • An ability to use the techniques, skills and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice
  • An ability to recognize a problem, formulate different strategies to understand the problem and use engineering principles to solve the problem
  • An ability to apply mathematical methods and physical properties of components and devices to develop an in-depth understanding of circuits, electronics, computers, communications and control systems.
