- The computer center develops and updates the university departments by using internet on campus where all the university departments, faculties and labs will be linked with up to data based line. Faculty members and students will benefit from internet services such as electronic mail, browsing processes and search for information besides exchanging information and document through the university internet, where fiber optics technology is used as a means of linking the university building.
- The center is developing and automating a special program required for the work of all university departments to help these departments in a systematic and sufficiently quick manner. The most up to date product of Oracle Company in the field of linking databases (oracle DB81& developer 61) has been used. Philadelphia University is also considered a pioneering institution in this area at the national level.
Following are the most significant software tools.
- personnel affairs and salary system: The system which has been quite recently completed will organize the employee files and computation of leaves, short departure, permits and salaries. It will also keep and store the employees' records at the time of their appointment.
- Student admission, registration and accounting system: This system follows up students' admission and registration where an accurate and secure mechanism has been set which insures that data amendment or elimination is only done by the person authorized to do that. Meanwhile there is a follow-up system correspondingly functioning with the basic system to record all the users movements during the period they use the system.
- General accounting system: This system monitors the various financial affairs of the Department of Finance (Student accounting, General accounting, Budget, Dues, Salaries...)
- Supplies system: This system regulates store affairs, purchase, entry and taking out various items to and from stores.
- Other systems:
Such as the movement of buses, clinic. Student and alumni affairs.
- The center holds training courses which serve all university working personnel and students to develop their skills through the use of computer, which would enable them to keep abreast of the fast developments in information and internet technology.
- The computer center carries out all the maintenance work of the apparatuses and software available at the university labs and faculties.
