Terms of Reference

  • To formulate  the University’s General Policy  in consonance with Higher Education Policy.
  • To recommend to the Higher Education  Council establishment, integration, or  abrogation of  faculties, departments,   academic programs, and  specializations.
  • To recommend to the Higher Education  Council appointment of the President in accordance with the provisions of this law.
  • To appoint vice presidents and deans on recommendation from the President in accordance with provisions of this law.
  • To ratify instructions  submitted by the President pertaining to the regulation of the University’s work.
  • To decide on the number of students to be annually admitted to the University’s various fields  of specialization and programs in the light of the capacity determined for each specialization, and apprise the  Higher Education Council of  the number of  admitted students  at the beginning of each semester.
  • To determine University tuition fees, secure  sources of funding to strengthen of the University’s financial resources, and regulate matters relating to investment.
  • To set the salary scale for all those employed by the University,  including faculty members.
  • Review, discuss and ratify the annual plan submitted by the President relating to development projects,  which the University intends to implement.
  • To accept gifts, grants and endowments from  Jordanian sources  to a maximum of   one hundred thousand dinars provided that they are to be allocated to expenditure on the development of the University.
  • To approve the University's draft annual budget and submit it to the Higher Education Council for ratification.
  • To approve the President’s annual report on the progress of work at the University, with a view to evaluation of its accomplishments, review the balance sheet and closing accounts and submit them to the Higher Education Council.
  • To prepare the University’s draft regulations and submit them to the Higher Education Council for approval within a period not exceeding two months, including adoption of faculty regulations in effect at any of the state universities.
  • To look into any matters relating to the University which may be raised by the President  and over which no other party has jurisdiction pursuant to the provisions of this law and the regulations emanating therefrom.
