Quality Management at Philadelphia University


Philadelphia University is committed to quality assurance and continuous development at the levels of the University, and academic and the administrative units. This is accomplished through various on-going evaluation processes and the remedial actions taken to make improvements. The University emphasis on quality takes into consideration its vision and mission as well as the vision and mission of all academic units in all processes and activities. The Accreditation and Quality Assurance Office, AQAO, has been entrusted with the tasks of managing the review as well as the self-evaluation studies in all academic and administrative units at the University to support the University in order to enhance its processes. Therefore, the AQAO works as a source of information and data relating to the University’s activities; It collects information from the various University units, analyze them, and pass them to the higher administration to assist in the decision-making processes.

The AQAO Office also facilities the Higher Education Accreditation Commission in its follow up for the institutional and program accreditation at Philadelphia University. In addition, the Office works as a liaison with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Higher Education Accreditation Commission to ensure that the University applies quality standards which are specified by them.

The Office’s activities are chaired by the Director of Accreditation and Quality Assurance at the University who reports directly to the University President.

The Coordinator of the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Office and the Secretary of the office follow up the daily activities and duties of the office.

Office activities are also managed by the University Accreditation and Quality Assurance Committee which is chaired by the University President. The committee also supports the Director of Accreditation and Quality Assurance in carrying out his duties. The Office also receives assistance from quality assurance committees in the University departments and faculties. These committees follow up the weekly agenda of academic activities pertinent to their unites, document them, and pass them to the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the AQAO. The documents may include: studies, evaluation processes, syllabi for course materials ….etc. and they are preserved for the self-evaluation purposes. In addition, the Office collects statistics related to the numbers of enrolled students and faculty members from the Various University faculties. The Office carries out the necessary analysis to inspect the adherence of the University academic programs to the HEAC regulations. Then, the Office submits that to the University’s higher administration, faculties and departments and asks them for taking the corrective measures in case of irregularity. The Office is provided with the remarks of the Ministry of Higher Education and the Higher Education Accreditation Commission and it discusses them with the University Administration as well as relevant units to conduct the required improvements and handle any shortage that appears as a result of the evaluation process.
