The academic research budget amounted to JD 411,000 while the year witnessed a remarkable development in the sphere of academic research as follows:

1. A by-law for academic research was laid down showing the tasks of the Deanship of Academic Research as stated hereunder:
   
   • Prescription of the general policy of academic research at the University together with the mechanisms of its implementation and setting plans for academic research and submitting them to the University Council
     
   • Preparation of the regulations needed for organization, encouragement, coordination, promotion , follow up , evaluation and publication of academic research .
     
   • Laying down rules and conditions required for reserving the University and researchers' rights concerning the academic researchers and outcomes thereof in a manner that does not conflict with patents of inventions ,authorship and publications in effect in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan .
     
   • Discussion of the university annual budget .
     
   • Supervision of publication of journals or periodicals concerned with publication of the financial subsidy of researchers .
     
   • Approval of the financial subsidy of research projects , and publishing written works and scientific researches presented by faculty members , and full-time lectures .
     
   • Any other matters related to academic research .
     
     
2. The Academic Research Regulations have been amended and developed.
   
   
3. An Academic Research Council has been set up instead of a committee , under the chairmanship of the Dean of Academic Research with the membership of the Faculties ,representatives with a view to expanding the tasks and jurisdiction of the council.
   
   
4. Special , accurate and exact forms for academic research have been devised to facilitate contact of researchers with the Deanship and to make easier the subsidization procedures .

5. Coordination has been made with various faculties to organize academic research through the University Deanship of Academic Research .
   
   
6. The Deanship of Academic Research has subsidized the following academic activities :
   
   • Research projects
     
   • Travel for follow up of the completion of researchers subsidized by the University
     
   • Research publication 
     
   • Book manuscript publication .
     
   • A book to be used as a prescribed textbook 
     
   • Attendance of and participation in conferences at home and abroad .
     
   • Participation in symposiums 
     
   • Holding conferences inside the University Campus .
     
     
7. Meeting were held with deans of academic research in private universities for the development of academic research and activation of the researchers' achievements through the University .
   
   
8. The Deanship of Academic Research urged various faculties to establish labs especially for purposes of academic research.
   
   
9. The Deanship is implementing a study for initiating graduate programs at various colleges of the University
