Academic research activities in Philadelphia University started in the year 1995 through setting the regulations and By-laws of organization , support and encouragement of Academic Research as a first step towards establishment of academic research , while the university allocates a large part of annual budget for this same purpose .

In 1995/96/97 the sum of JD 75000 was earmarked for supporting academic research to be distributed over the support and publication of research projects , to subsidize publication of books and to fund attendance of conferences and symposiums . A special committee for academic research was set up at the university level consisting of faculty members who represent the various University faculties . The aim of this committee is to supervise , follow up, support and encourage academic research in the University .

But academic research effectively developed in the year 1998 through the foundation of an autonomous deanship under the name "Deanship of Academic Research and Graduate Studies " at the University . Meanwhile academic research allocations were raised to JD 150,000 as an annual budget . Regulations and by-laws were updated in a manner that makes it easy for faculty members to support academic research.

For the academic year 2002/2003, the annual budget has been raised to JD 375,000 constituting 5% of the whole University budget. For the year 2003/2004, all academic departments at the University are solicited to submit proposals for Graduate studies programs, and the annual budget has been raised to 411,000 J.D. Soon, we will be offering Master's degrees in many vital specializations.

New forms have been devised such as ( form : Research Project , Research Publication, Book Subsidy , Attending a conference). Numerous books and researchers were subsidized and several conferences has been attended accordingly.
