Confucius Institute at Philadelphia University, Jordan, is located in Amman, the capital of the Hashimite Kingdom of Jordan, of which the host university and the Chinese partner university are respectively Philadelphia University, Jordan and Liaocheng University.
The contract for its establishment was signed on the 25th of September, 2011, with its name plaque unveiled on the 16th of September, 2012. The host university of this Confucius Institute, Philadelphia University, Jordan, is a comprehensive university located in the city of Jerash, a well preserved ancient Roman city and a famous tourist resort.
Confucius Institute at Philadelphia University, Jordan, is in Amman, with about 500 ㎡ for the use of teaching and office work, and a staff of 5 persons, including the Jordanian director, Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud Ahmed Ghazo, the Chinese director, Dr. Ding Haiban, and 3 Chinese teachers. In the February of 2013, Confucius Institute at Philadelphia University started teaching Chinese language as a selective course in Philadelphia University, Jordan. And up to now, it has opened Chinese classes 4 times, enrolling 7 groups, more than 160 students.
Confucius Institute also organized training classes and cultural activities, including: lecture on the ideas and ideals of Confucius, mid-Autumn festival tea party, spring festival party, Baduan Jin training class, Taiji Quan training class, Chinese knot tying class, paper cutting class, etc.
The Chinese culture awareness of the students is all the time getting higher and there have also been successive breakthroughs in terms of the number of enrollment. In the mean time, the atmosphere of Chinese culture on the campus is increasing as time passes, and more and more students are becoming interested in the course of Chinese language, also taking pride upon choosing and learning this course.
