Master of Mechatronics Engineering


The Master's Program grants the student a Master's degree in Mechatronics Engineering. It is a joint Master’s degree program between the University of Philadelphia and the University of Bochum in Germany.

The program consists of two tracks:

The First Track:
Courses on a range of academic subjects with a thesis. The course includes four semesters and a period of no less than two academic years. Note that this path consists of two options:

  1. One Master's degree from Philadelphia University (33 credit hours).
  2. A double degree from Philadelphia University and the University of Bochum in Germany (43 credit hours).

The Second Track:
A comprehensive exam track that includes four semesters of no less than two years of study (33 credit hours).

Admission Requirements:

Applicants for the Master's program in Mechatronics Engineering are required to:

  1. Have a regular bachelor’s degree with a grade of no less than “good” (or its equivalent) from a recognized university in the following disciplines:
    • A degree in Mechatronics Engineering.
    • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electronic and Communications Engineering or Computer Engineering. To transfer to Mechatronics from one of these degrees, the student is required first to pass a remedial course determined by the competent committee in the department.
  2. Pass one of the foreign language competency exams:
    • TOEFL (IBT) for practical disciplines with a score of no less than 90 from the AMIDEAST Centre, Jordan branch only.
    • IELTS exam for scientific disciplines with a score of no less than 6.5 from the British Council Centre, Jordan branch only.
    • In cases where the students do not present proof of their success in one of the foreign language exams, they may choose to study an English language program at the university in the first semester after enrolment (6 credit hours). The student will need to obtain an average score of 75 % or above in these language courses before being allowed to transfer to the Master’s program.
