The Data Science and Artificial Intelligence specialization is one of the fastest-growing applied scientific fields, due to the presence of vast amounts of data and significant advancements in the capabilities of modern processors and computers. Data Science focuses on employing concepts from multiple knowledge domains such as mathematics, statistics, algorithms, and computer science, as well as using modern scientific methods in analyzing and processing data to extract knowledge for predictive purposes and to assist decision-makers. Artificial Intelligence, on the other hand, is a set of computer algorithms that simulate human intelligence by understanding and learning from data, enabling machines to perform human tasks with higher efficiency, effectiveness, and greater accuracy in decision-making and future prediction.

This program integrates two major disciplines: Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, which are nowadays considered interconnected sciences with intelligent systems. The former focuses on statistical methods while the latter emphasizes intelligent algorithms.
The primary objective of the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence program is to provide students with first-class education so they can develop their abilities and expertise. The curriculum will emphasize the theoretical and practical skills required in this subject, starting from introduction to data science, data engineering, data mining, artificial intelligence, and data visualization, along with many other topics related to the specialization. Modern programming methodologies are also employed in all data science activities and applications. The plan aims to refine graduates' expertise to keep pace with the job market.
Artificial Intelligence and Data Science positions are among the most sought-after jobs in the twenty-first century, ensuring the successful operation of institutions in all economic sectors including health, education, and culture, especially in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It is important to note that among the highest-paying positions in the information technology industry locally, regionally, and internationally are those in the fields of data science and artificial intelligence.
Additionally, there is a need for data scientists to focus on political and sports analytics as well as analyzing platform data and social media. To achieve this, algorithms and models can be created and built to analyze data, and information can be extracted from them to analyze the past and present and predict the future.
The Data Science and Artificial Intelligence program prepares students to work in a variety of industries by providing them with extensive computer skills, data science skills, and intelligent analytics. These diverse positions range from e-commerce, business and industrial consulting, operations research, marketing, and scientific research to technology, communications, pharmaceuticals, and financial services. The specialization also allows students to continue their education to obtain master's and doctoral degrees in similar fields of study.
Upon completion of 132 credit hours of required and elective courses, the student is awarded a Bachelor's degree in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
