Faculty: Business

Abstract: Jordanian real estate enterprises are experiencing difficult market circumstances and an increasingly competitive environment; following these issues, this study examines the leverage of electronic word of mouth (e-WOM) on customer purchase intention in a Jordanian context with specific reference to real estate enterprises, considering the moderating role of reliability. Based on earlier studies, a conceptual model for the study was created. This research includes e-WOM as an independent variable affecting customers' purchase intention as a dependent variable mediated by reliability. The investigation follows descriptive-analytical methods; based on a convenience sampling approach, 300 questionnaires were distributed through Google Forms; nonetheless and 250 responses were accepted. To analyze data and assess hypotheses, a structural Equation Mod-eling (SEM) using PLS was employed. Results demonstrated a significant effect of e-WOM and Reliability on purchasing intent of customers, and the moderating role of reliability in the relationship between e-WOM and purchase intent was also affirmed. The findings give Jordanian real estate businesses information on ways to use that are most effective e-WOM to persuade buyers to buy.

Research Title: Mediating Role of E-Word of Mouth on the Relationship between Visual Social Media Marketing and Customer Purchase Intention in Jordanian Real Estate Companies
Author: Mohammad Assad Mohammad Hasan, Published Year: 2023
Faculty: Business

Abstract: This research examines the effect of visual social media marketing on customer purchase intention in Jordanian real estate companies while considering the mediating role of electronic word of mouth. Jordanian real estate companies are currently dealing with difficult marketing conditions and an environment that is becoming more competitive. A thorough study of the prior and current literature served as the foundation for the conceptual model of the investigation. The research model includes the visual social media marketing dimensions (informative content, entertainment content, and remunerative content) as independent variables that influence customers' purchase intentions as a dependent variable through electronic word of mouth as a mediating factor. The research uses descriptive and analytical techniques. To collect 300 questions disseminated via Google Forms, a convenience sample strategy was used. Received 225 replies. To analyze data and assess hypotheses, PLS was used in structural equation modeling (SEM). The findings of the hypothesis demonstrate a strong influence of visual social media marketing and electronic word of mouth on purchase intention. The association between visual social media marketing and purchase intention is mediated through electronic word of mouth. The findings offer Jordanian real estate companies' insights into the most effective ways to use visual social media marketing to entice customer to make purchases.

Research Title: Confidential Intelligent Traffic Light Control System: Prevention of Unauthorized Traceability
Author: Said Ahmad Ammar Ghoul, Published Year: 2025
Big Data Cogn. Comput. 2025, 9, 169, 9 (7)
Faculty: Information Technology

Abstract: Many research studies have designed intelligent traffic light scheduling algorithms. Some researchers rely on specialized sensors and hardware to gather real-time traffic data at signalized road intersections. Others benefit from artificial intelligence techniques and/or cloud computing technologies. The technology of vehicular networks has been widely used to gather the traffic characteristics of competing traffic flows at signalized road intersections. Intelligent traffic light controlling systems aim to fairly liberate competing traffic at signalized road intersections and eliminate traffic crises. These algorithms have been initially developed without focusing on the consequences of security threats or attacks. However, the accuracy of gathered traffic data at each road intersection affects its performance. Fake and corrupted packets highly affect the accuracy of the gathered traffic data. Thus, in this work, we aim to investigate the aspects of security and confidentiality of intelligent traffic light systems. The possible attacks on the confidentiality of intelligent traffic light systems are examined. Then, a confidential traffic light control system that protects the privacy of traveling vehicles and drivers is presented. The proposed algorithm mainly prevents unauthorized traceability and linkability attacks that threaten people’s lives and violate their privacy. Finally, the proposed algorithm is evaluated through extensive experiments to verify its correctness and benefits compared to traditional insecure intelligent traffic light systems.

Faculty: Nursing

Abstract: Purpose This paper aims to systematically map and evaluate the evidence on the efficacy of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) interventions for trichotillomania, including randomized controlled trials (RCTs), quasi-experimental designs and observational studies, while exploring treatment formats, outcomes and clinical implications. Design/methodology/approach A systematic search was conducted in PubMed, PsycINFO and Scopus up to June 2025, using terms related to trichotillomania and CBT. Eligible studies included those investigating CBT-based interventions with quantitative or qualitative outcomes. Data were extracted on study design, sample characteristics, interventions, outcome measures and findings. Study quality was appraised using the Cochrane Risk of Bias tool and the Newcastle–Ottawa Scale. Findings In all, 25 studies met the inclusion criteria, comprising 15 RCTs, 6 quasi-experimental studies and 4 observational designs. Across studies, CBT – most notably HRT – consistently demonstrated significant reductions in hair-pulling frequency and severity, with average symptom reduction ranging between 40% and 60%. Improvements in secondary outcomes such as anxiety, depression and quality of life were also reported. Both individual and group formats were effective, with individual therapy yielding slightly larger effect sizes. Emerging evidence supports the feasibility of telehealth and digital CBT, though further validation is needed. Variability in treatment response, small sample sizes and limited follow-up periods were key limitations. Originality/value The findings of this review support CBT, and particularly HRT, as the gold-standard psychological treatment for trichotillomania. While robust evidence demonstrates its efficacy, challenges remain regarding treatment accessibility, personalization and long-term maintenance. Future research should prioritize large-scale trials, predictors of treatment response, relapse prevention and innovative delivery models, including digital platforms.

Research Title: The Impact of Cigarette Smoking and Vaping Use on the Development and Progression of Periodontitis: A Systematic Review
Author: Rabia Hani Amin Haddad, Published Year: 2025
Health Science Reports, Volume8, Issue9
Faculty: Nursing

Abstract: Background Periodontitis is a widespread inflammatory disease that impacts the tissues surrounding and supporting teeth. As well as being untreated, it leads to serious dental and overall health issues. While cigarette smoking is widely recognized as a major risk factor for the development and progression of periodontitis, the effects of vaping use on periodontal health remain a subject of growing concern. Aim This paper aims to investigate the impact of both traditional smoking and vaping use on periodontal health, as well as determine which method poses a greater risk for periodontal disease. Methods The current systematic review adhered to the PRISMA standards for quantitative systematic reviews. A systematic search was conducted across four databases: Medline, CINAHL, Embase, and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), yielding 2179 studies. Duplicate studies (n = 585) were identified and removed using RefWorks. Results The result of this review revealed that cigarette smokers experience worse periodontal conditions than vape smokers and non-smokers. Cigarette smokers exhibited higher Gingival Index (GI), poorer Plaque Index (PI), lower Bleeding on Probing (BOP), mean Probing Depth (PD) exceeding 3 mm, and greater Clinical Attachment Loss (CAL). A total of 13 studies were included in this systematic review. Specifically, six studies compared cigarette smokers with vaping smokers and non-smokers, while another six studies focused on the comparison between cigarette smokers and non-smokers. Furthermore, one study assessed vaping smokers against non-smokers. Conclusion This review focuses on the substantial differences in periodontal health between cigarette smokers, vape users, and nonsmokers. Cigarette smoking has been linked to more severe periodontal diseases, including a higher Gingival Index, a lower Plaque Index, and worse Clinical Attachment Loss. While vaping seems to have a lower influence on periodontal health, it deserves further examination. Understanding these distinctions is critical for creating targeted therapies and public health measures to reduce the negative impacts of tobacco and vaping on oral health.

Abstract: Author: Atef Al-Raoush, Published Year: 2025 Faculty: Business Abstract: Abstract Purpose – This paper investigates Lean Six Sigma initiatives, hospital effectiveness results, and hospital error sources, addressing the gap in the literature regarding the mediating role of patient safety results in Jordanian healthcare settings. Design/methodology/approach – The study is based on data collected from 10 hospitals located in Amman, Jordan. Four hundred fifty hospital employees in managerial positions, including those in nursing, administration, quality management, and other areas, were given a survey questionnaire. Eighty percent of responses were received. The data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (Path analysis) on the AMOS version 21 software. Findings – The research findings indicate that LSS significantly improves patient safety results and hospital effectiveness. Additionally, LSS is significantly associated with a reduction in hospital error sources in Jordanian hospitals. However, patient safety results were found to have no significant direct relationship with hospital error sources. Similarly, the results reveal that patient safety results partially mediate the relationship between LSS and hospital effectiveness. Research limitations/implications – This study was limited to hospitals based in Amman, Jordan, and employed a non-probability sampling technique. Thus, the results may not be generalizable to other healthcare organizations, regions within Jordan, other countries, or different types of service organizations. Originality/value – This study provides valuable insights for healthcare practitioners seeking to implement the LSS approach in hospital settings. It offers both theoretical and applied contributions to the thoughtfulness of LSS in hospitals. The findings demonstrate that LSS can be effectively applied across various hospital functions, resulting in quantifiable improvements in performance and safety.

Faculty: Nursing

Abstract: Objectives: Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are common during pregnancy and can lead to adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes. Despite their significance, data on UTI prevalence and associated factors among pregnant women in Jordan remain limited. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of UTI and its associated factors among pregnant women in the northern Jordan. Methods: We conducted a retrospective study using a convenience sampling method to review the records of pregnant women registered in the King Abdullah University Hospital database between January 2017 and January 2020. Results: The study found that the prevalence of urinary tract infection (UTI) was 8.9%. Positive predictors included an interaction between chronological age and level of education (OR = 1.139; 95% CI: 1.040–1.248; p = 0.01), being in the third trimester of pregnancy (OR = 1.856; 95% CI: 1.052–3.273; p = 0.03), prolonged hospitalization (OR = 6.784; 95% CI: 4.075–11.292; p < 0.001), and anemia (OR = 3.662; 95% CI: 2.185–6.138; p < 0.001). Negative predictors included having a university degree (OR = 0.027; 95% CI: 0.002–0.344; p = 0.01) and being at the younger or older age during pregnancy (OR = 0.904; 95% CI: 0.839–0.974; p = 0.01). Conclusion: The study concluded that the prevalence of UTI among singleton primigravida pregnant women was high, given the potential consequences of infection during pregnancy. Therefore, appropriate interventional measures should be implemented by the government and relevant stakeholders to reduce the prevalence of the infection and its associated complications.

Research Title: Exploring the relationship between emotional intelligence and communication skills in nurses: a cross-sectional study
Author: Rabia Hani Amin Haddad, Published Year: 2025
BMC Nursing, 24
Faculty: Nursing

Abstract: Aim Patients’ outcomes could be improved by using emotional intelligence (EI) in communication. Many of the behavioral skills of nurses are shaped by their EI. This study aims to explore the relationship between the communication skills of nurses working in hospitals and their EI, emphasizing the importance of communication abilities. Method This cross-sectional study included 350 nurses as a convenience sampling technique working in four government and private hospitals in the southern West Bank of Palestine. The questionnaire consisted of three sections: sociodemographic, EI Goleman’s questionnaire, and communication skills questionnaire. Participants completed a communication skills questionnaire developed by the researcher, along with Goleman’s EI Scale. The validity and reliability of the tools were assessed throughout the study. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, analysis of variance, and Pearson’s correlation test in SPSS v27. Results The self-awareness dimension achieved the highest score of 25.50, whereas self-management recorded the lowest at 19.69, resulting in an estimated average EI score of 87.22. In terms of communication instruments, a total possible score ranges from 28 to 140, with higher mean scores indicating high EI. The overall average score for communication skills was 90.23. A significant correlation. For EI, a total possible score ranging from 28 to 140, with higher mean scores indicating high EI. was observed between the total EI score and the overall communication skills score (r = 0.542, p < 0.01), and all four EI dimensions were strongly correlated with the total communication skills score. Conclusion As EI and its dimensions positively influence nurses’ communication skills, hospital managers can enhance EI by organizing training sessions, promoting communication skills, and establishing a foundation for continuous improvement in hospital services. The in-service training, including monthly meetings and conferences, would benefit nurses by engaging them with EI. Using artificial intelligence could engage nurses in training sessions.
