Learning Chinese has become increasingly important in our current era due to China's growing economic, technological, and cultural influence worldwide. The Chinese language is not merely a means of communication but opens wide doors to educational and career opportunities, especially with the increasing commercial relations between Arab countries and China. Moreover, mastering Chinese gives individuals a competitive advantage in the Jordanian, Arab, and global job markets, as many companies seek to employ people capable of interacting with Chinese partners and managers. Additionally, learning this language helps understand the rich Chinese culture and traditions, with the aim of benefiting from their successful experiences and being able to deal with them on multiple levels.
According to recent statistics, the Chinese language has become the second most widely spoken language in our current era, due to China's extensive economic influence, in addition to the fact that the number of native speakers of this language exceeds one billion people.
With the development of Arab-Chinese relations and China's expanded support for teaching its language, we find that a number of countries have begun to include Chinese language in schools, institutes, and universities, including Saudi Arabia. Also, the growth of Chinese investments outside China and the doubling of trade volume between China and countries worldwide have increased the demand for Chinese language speakers in the job market.
Thus, employment fields have become extensive for Chinese language speakers and include several areas, most notably: translation, teaching, commercial companies, administrative work, factories, tourism and aviation companies, journalism and media, and others.
The Master's program in Chinese Language and Culture seeks to achieve the following objectives:
Enhance Linguistic Proficiency
Enable students to master advanced Chinese language skills, covering the four language competencies (listening, speaking, reading, and writing).
Deepen Cultural Understanding and Promote Cultural Exchange
Provide students with extensive knowledge of Chinese culture, including China's history as a great power, and familiarity with Chinese customs, traditions, and celebrations, thereby broadening students' perspectives and encouraging them to acquire beneficial aspects from other cultures, in addition to promoting mutual understanding between peoples.
Prepare Academic and Research Personnel
Qualify graduates capable of conducting advanced scientific research in Chinese language and culture and contributing to the development of Chinese studies.
Qualify Specialists for the Job Market
Graduate qualified professionals to work in multiple fields such as translation, teaching, commerce, international relations, tourism, and others, especially with China's significant and rapid economic growth and its domination of global markets.
Utilize Modern Technologies in Language Education
Employ modern technology in teaching Chinese language, such as artificial intelligence and digital media, and keep pace with contemporary developments in this field, especially given China's prominent role in the development of technology and artificial intelligence.
Support Academic and Diplomatic Cooperation
Strengthen academic relations between Arab and Chinese universities through student exchange programs and joint research, which supports relations between Arab countries and China and opens opportunities for graduates to benefit from diverse employment opportunities in the Chinese market and global markets, especially as the Chinese language has become the second most widely spoken language globally according to recent statistics.
