About the Department

Biotechnology and genetic engineering sciences are applied sciences with high economic feasibility, in addition to their contribution to the development of various facilities such as: health, agriculture, industry and environment, and to the development of various research centers. Accordingly, the decision was made at Philadelphia University to establish the Department of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering in the academic year 2000/2001 to become a unique nucleus at the local and regional level.

At the bachelor's program level, the department qualifies students in modern contemporary applied directions of this specialization and also works to develop these directions in the service of industrial, pharmaceutical, food, health and agricultural projects and public and private production sectors and various scientific centers, in addition to cooperation with local and international universities in the research field in various biotechnology specializations. The department includes ten faculty members specialized in various knowledge areas of biotechnology and genetic engineering who have significant experience in research and teaching activities. The department has also secured references and scientific books for this distinguished specialization.
