Learning Outcomes

Intended Learning Outcomes for the Chinese Language and Literature Program


Graduates are expected to be capable of the following after graduating from the Applied English program:

  1. Recall essential linguistic knowledge and language skills, including vocabulary, grammatical structures, and pronunciation rules, in both Mandarin Chinese and English. (K1)
  2. Understand the use of Chinese in practical contexts, such as business, tourism, media, teaching, and translation. (K2)
  3. Explain the main ideas and themes of selected Chinese literary texts using basic literary terminology. (K3)
  4. Describe key cultural practices, and traditions of the Chinese society. (K4)
  5. Implement Chinese and English language skills through active engagement in a diverse range of communicative situations. (S1)
  6. Apply fundamental translation principles and strategies to translate texts proficiently across Chinese, Arabic and English in various fields. (S2)
  7. Use Chinese internet, social media and other platforms efficiently. (S3)
  8. Apply modern teaching methods and educational technologies in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. (S4)
  9. Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written Chinese across professional domains such as business, tourism, and media, while working collaboratively and adhering to professional work ethics. (S5)
  10. Value cultural diversity and acquire intercultural competence in professional and academic contexts. (C1)
