Program Benchmarks for Department of Accounting

It is our expectation that graduates of the Accounting Department will be able to:

1. Demonstrate an understanding of accounting principles and practices that will allow them to record, analyze and communicate financial information useful to owners, managers and other stakeholders.
2. Identify the roles of accountants in providing and ensuring the integrity of financial and other information.
3. Prepare financial statements that comply with IAS & IFRS.
4. Use computerized accounting software and understand the role of AIS in value creation in a business organization.
5. Demonstrate proficiency in tax policies and Jordanian income tax law and be able to explain the importance of compliance for individuals and enterprises.
6. Conduct a thorough financial analysis and provide appropriate recommendations.
7. Understand generally accepted auditing standards and apply the knowledge in an audit simulation.

Department of Accounting  is committed to the following objectives:

1. Providing students with both theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of Accounting
2. Focusing on practical applications in all education and learning aspects.
3. Providing students with abilities to grasp the various elements of Business environment and effectively dealing with it.
4. Developing students' skills, competencies, and Business ethics and standards in order to enhance their chances in leading successful careers within local and international levels.
5. Developing students' knowledge, and skills to obtain professional certificates in the field of Accounting

Knowledge

Upon successful completion of this program the graduate will be able to:

1. Demonstrate awareness of accounting measurements and financial analysis reports in accordance with International Accounting Standards;
2. Demonstrate basic knowledge of auditing and control in accordance with International Auditing Standards
3. Clarify principles of cost in the manufacturing process and budgeting in various financial entities
4. Apply knowledge of tax laws and procedures to individuals and businesses
5. Elucidation of Business function areas and demonstrate the interrelatedness between Businesses and their environment.

       Skills

1. Upon successful completion of this program the graduate will be able to:
2. Communicate with others in an efficient and effective manner in both Arabic and English whether verbally or while writing reports and drafting presentations.
3. Employ technology in processes of data and information collection, analysis, and interpretation.

Objectives of Faculty of Business

1. To provide an opportunity for suitably qualified students to pursue Higher education in the fields of Business Administration, Accounting, Banking & Finance, Marketing, Business Networking and Systems Management, Hotel & Tourism Management, Hospital Management, and Library & Information Science.
2. To provide and maintain management structures which facilitate and encourage the process of learning and teaching.
3. To promote scholarly and research activities in Business Management and other fields of Financial Sciences.
4. To inculcate a spirit of team work and cooperation amongst staff, students and other participants in the Faculty.
5. To set and meet high standards in the provision of education and related activities through formal and systematic Quality Assurance procedures.
