A- Knowledge and Understanding Outcomes

Outcomes:

1. Explain the principles, concepts, and values of the legal system and its elements in general and branches of Jordanian law in particular, considering their sources and historical development.
2. Clarify the fundamental principles of Jordanian legislation and their judicial applications.
3. Explain the Jordanian judicial system, its institutions, procedures, and jurisdictions.
4. Clarify topics related to law with social, economic, political, and other dimensions.
5. Clarify the basic systems of local and international institutions related to law and legal bodies.
6. Explain methods and approaches of academic scientific research and familiarity with sources of legal knowledge.

  • Outcome (D/5) is achieved through informing students of their evaluation results and progress in discussion and involving multiple students in research activities with role division.
  • Outcome (D/6) is achieved through student presentations of course topics, presenting individual/group research papers, and performing mock trials.

  • Outcome (D/1) is assessed through written and practical exams in specialized courses.
  • Outcome (D/2) is assessed through group work contribution (5% of total evaluation) and research discussion defense at 10% of research paper grade.
  • Outcome (D/3) is assessed through written exams and homework exercises and assignments.
  • Outcome (D/4) is assessed by measuring research paper quality (10%) based on modern references and documentation.
  • Outcomes (D/5-D/6) are assessed through research paper quality and group assignment level (part of research paper grade), student capability for logical discussion and mock trial performance (80% of practical applications course grade).

Outcomes:

1. Apply theoretical knowledge to real and hypothetical cases and issues of simple and complex composition.
2. Diagnose and analyze material facts and legal acts and their legal classifications and frameworks.
3. Analyze, interpret, and evaluate legislative texts, judicial decisions, jurisprudence, and legal theories.
4. Extract rules from various sources of law to develop logical, evidence-based solutions for hypothetical cases.
5. Build legal debates and discussions and handle legal logical assumptions optimally under specific circumstances.
6. Think critically and analyze specific discussions and choose logical solutions from among alternative solutions.

  • Outcomes (B/1, B/4) are achieved through opening classroom dialogues and questions on hypothetical issues and case-solving exercises within specialization courses, plus directing students to read specific references and legal texts and their judicial applications.
  • Outcomes (B/2, B/3) are presented through theoretical lectures and directing students to read specific references and legal texts and applications, special lectures with guest speakers, individual or group research papers for group discussion, and assigning classroom and library exercises.
  • Outcomes (B/5, B/6) are achieved through classroom discussions, written exercises, encouraging students to showcase critical thinking about legislative texts and court judgments, conscious participation in classroom dialogues, providing logical solutions for discussed issues, assigning group projects presenting multiple solutions for group dialogue, and research papers discussed collectively.

  • Outcomes (1-6) are primarily assessed through mental skills questions in written exams, typically allocating 50-40% of the exam grade in specialization courses.
  • Outcomes (1-4) are additionally assessed through invisible evaluation of conscious participation in classroom dialogues (5-10% of total evaluation), plus homework and exercises (5-10%).
  • Outcomes (5, 6) are assessed through research papers (10%) and students' ability for logical discussion, defense, and persuasiveness during research discussion sessions.

Outcomes:

1. Research law through various sources to extract and derive supporting information and ability to find solutions to real or hypothetical problems by classifying and categorizing them by importance.
2. Use educational legal knowledge sources (electronic and print) and benefit from them in various ways.
3. Prepare research papers, working papers, and articles according to correct scientific methods.
4. Use computer skills, communication technology, and information technology such as the internet.
5. Write and draft contracts, agreements, regulations, memoranda, and all legal documents according to proper legal format.
6. Perform roles in legal activities according to professional legal ethics and practice judicial activities and written and oral procedures spontaneously or with prior preparation.

  • Outcomes (C/1, C/2, C/3) are achieved through explanatory guides directing students to use legal knowledge sources and assigning research papers in most specialization courses, plus solving exercises within law libraries.
  • Outcome (C/4) is achieved through special theoretical and practical lectures on computer applications, plus encouraging students to use electronic legal resources and computers for solving exercises and preparing research papers.
  • Outcome (C/5) is achieved through theoretical and practical lectures on formal and substantive requirements of legal documents in third and fourth-year studies, plus assigning students group drafting exercises and collective discussion.
  • Outcome (C/6) is achieved through theoretical and practical lectures, performing hypothetical trials and contract negotiations, special lectures with guest professionals, and practical applications course exercises in fourth-year studies.

  • Outcomes (1, 2, 3) are assessed through research paper quality (10%) and library/homework assignments (5-10%) of total evaluation in specialization courses.
  • Outcome (4) is assessed through practical computer exams.
  • Outcomes (5, 6) are assessed through practical skills questions in written exams (60-80% of procedural law grades) and homework/practical work (10%), plus performance assessment of legal roles and judicial applications (80%) in the practical applications course.

D- Communication Skills Outcomes (Adaptability)

Outcomes:

1. Use modern technology skills and electronic data using the latest and best methods.
2. Communicate effectively with others independently and collectively and work as a team.
3. Use English and Arabic to clarify legal terminology.
4. Deal with legislation, judicial judgments, opinions, and legal jurisprudence and keep up with updates.
5. Deal with topics related to local and international community and its institutions.
6. Plan tasks in advance and manage time accurately and responsibly and assess personal capabilities and benefit from feedback.

  • Learning Outcome (D/1) is achieved through theoretical and practical lectures for designated courses.
  • Learning Outcome (D/2) is achieved through research projects, group assignments, presentation and discussion of research papers, active participation in classroom discussions, encouraging students to engage in extracurricular collaborative activities, attending seminars and conferences, and forming student forums on topics of shared interest.
  • Learning Outcome (D/3) is achieved through delivering theoretical and applied lectures on written and oral communication skills within courses dedicated to Arabic and English language skills, including compulsory university courses and compulsory and elective major courses. Students are also assigned written tasks, exercises, and research papers in most major courses.
  • Learning Outcome (D/4) is achieved through theoretical and role-playing lectures, introducing students to legal knowledge sources and how to use and keep up with them through research paper assignments and written exercises.
  • Learning Outcome (D/5) is achieved by informing students of their assessment results and performance development, discussing them, and engaging several students in joint research work and/or exercises with role distribution among them.
  • Learning Outcome (D/6) is achieved through student-led lectures on course topics, presentation of joint and/or individual research papers, and performing roles in moot court simulations.

  • Learning Outcome (D/1) is assessed through written and practical examinations for designated courses.
  • Assessment of Learning Outcome (D/2) depends on the student’s level of contribution to group work and participation in classroom discussions, which usually accounts for (5%) of the overall assessment. In addition, the level of discussion, defense, and persuasion during research paper presentations accounts for (10%) of the total grade allocated to the research paper.
  • Learning Outcome (D/3) is assessed through written examinations, problem-solving assignments, and library-based assignments.
  • Learning Outcome (D/4) is assessed by measuring the quality of the research paper, reliance on recent references, proper documentation, and information extraction.
  • Learning Outcomes (D/5–D/6) are assessed through the quality of the research paper and/or group library assignments, the level of performance in managing research discussions, which is allocated a percentage of the total research paper grade, in addition to the student’s ability to perform moot court roles.
