First: Instructions for Arabic and English Placement Exams

These instructions govern the Arabic and English language placement exams, applied to all newly admitted students at Philadelphia University across all disciplines at the beginning of each academic year, pursuant to the decision of the Council of Deans.

 

Article (1):

The exam is administered to all new students admitted to Philadelphia University at the start of each academic year.

 

Article (2):

A student may sit the Arabic and English placement exams up to two times within a maximum period of their first academic year at the university. If they do not pass either placement exam, they are required to study the corresponding remedial course.

 

Article (3):

All students who pass the Arabic and English placement exams — regardless of their score — are required to enroll in Arabic (101) and English (101).

 

Article (4):

The prescribed placement exam fee is collected from each student upon completion of the exam.

 

Article (5):

Upon the recommendation of the Head of the Department of Basic and Humanities Sciences, the University President forms a specialized committee in Arabic and English language, exam design, and computerization, drawn from the Language Center, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, and the Faculty of Information Technology. The committee is responsible for drafting, updating, and developing exam questions, as well as overseeing exam programming, result extraction, and processing.
